The Chairman and Managing Director of ITI RM Agarwal told PTI that the "Electronics manufacturing company ITI Limited and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) are going to sign up an agreement in the next 2-3 days. Manufacturing of the ventilator will start in the Bengaluru plant".

RM Agrawal further said that "the cost of a ventilator will totally depend on the size of an order placed from the PSU." In the worst-case scenarios, India will need 110,000-220,000 ventilators by May 15. Currently, India has a total of 57,000 ventilators and the cost of each ventilator range between 5-15 lakh. 

He also said that the portable ventilator will cost less than the ICU ventilator. ITI can expand the manufacturing of portable ventilators in these three locations -Mankapur in Uttar Pradesh, Rae Bareily in Uttar Pradesh and Palakkad in Kerala
