The salary of Indian Navy MR in 2023 varies based on whether they are undergoing training or have completed it. The pay scale or monthly in-hand salary, along with the grade pay, for Navy MRs working as chefs, Stewards, and hygienists are different. The Defense pay matrix of the Government of India sets the salary for the April batch of Navy Matric Recruits (MRs). During the 12-week basic training, Navy MR recruits are paid a monthly salary of Rs. 14,600/-. After completing the initial training, Navy MRs receive a minimum monthly salary of Rs. 21,700/-. The highest monthly salary for Indian Navy MRs is Rs. 69,100/-. Additionally, Navy Sailors who have passed their 10th grade and are Matric Recruits (MRs) are categorized under level 3 of the Defense Pay Matrix.

A Navy MR's basic pay and allowances together make up their total in-hand compensation. The salaries of matriculating recruits are also subject to deductions for NPS, PF, and other expenses.
